What Tarot Card Represents Virgo?

There are a few cards in a Tarot deck that are associated with the zodiac sign, Virgo. How did these cards become associated with the organized and hardworking sign of Virgo?

Here’s everything you need to know about the different Tarot cards that represent Virgo.

Virgo’s Tarot Card: The Hermit

The Hermit Tarot card and Virgo share common symbolism: Solitude.

In astrology, Virgo is represented by the Virgin. A Virgin isn’t simply someone who has never had sex or who is celibate. Virgo is represented by the archetype of the Virgin in the sense of someone who is content and dedicated to themselves. There is a strong connection to a sense of self. The Hermit sits on a mountaintop alone. He put in great effort to get to this point and is now reflecting back and turning inward to find deeper wisdom.

There is a sense of sacrifice in both the Hermit and Virgo. The Hermit gave up his worldly pleasures and sense of safety in hopes of reconnecting with his soul and finding life-changing answers. Virgo enjoys being of service and helping others and can oftentimes put their needs on the back burner and wind up prioritizing other people before themselves. Virgo also has an insatiable thirst for knowledge, learning, and growth. That is exactly what the Hermit is seeking atop that mountain.

There is intense introspection with the Hermit card and with Virgo. Both are observant and know that they possess otherworldly knowledge when they turn inward. Virgo is also known for being more reserved, shy and introverted. Spending time in their own energy can serve as a way to recharge and receive divine downloads from the Universe.

8 of Pentacles

The 8 of Pentacles represents the sun in Virgo. In Tarot, the 8 of Pentacles depicts a worker at a workbench honing their craft. The sun, our life force and energy, in Virgo carries similar energy.

People born with the sun in Virgo are generally hard workers and oftentimes are very important people within larger projects or organizations–like project managers, accountants–this can manifest as worker bee energy. But every bee counts!

This Tarot card represents developing or honing one’s skills through repetitive actions. There is nothing the sun in Virgo is more attuned to than that! Virgo energy is all about our routine and daily tasks–it’s the small changes that lead to the greatest breakthroughs.

9 of Pentacles

The 9 of Pentacles is associated with Venus in Virgo. It’s a reminder to pause, smell the roses and actually make time to enjoy the fruits of your labor. Venus in Virgo can easily get caught in a workaholic cycle. Venus struggles a bit in Virgo because it has trouble indulging and being present enough to enjoy everything they’ve worked so hard for.

This is a card of self-sufficiency and if Venus in Virgo is anything–they’re incredibly self-reliant and capable. It took hard work to get to where the woman in the 9 of Pentacles is now–something that Venus in Virgo is no stranger to. This is a reminder to celebrate your success.

10 of Pentacles

Who doesn’t love to see the 10 of Pentacles in a Tarot spread? The 10 of Pentacles can speak to achievement, recognition, wealth, financial security–whatever your version of success looks like to you.

The 10 of Pentacles is associated with Mercury in Virgo. In astrology, Mercury is at its strongest when it’s in the sign of Virgo. Mercury is Virgo’s natural ruling planet, meaning it gains strength and is better able to achieve its desires. With Mercury in such a strong and successful position, it’s no wonder that it is linked to the 10 of Pentacles, a card that represents what’s waiting at the end of the rainbow after all of your hard work and effort.
