Drawing This for the Virgo New Moon Is the Best Way to Get What You Want

No doubt about it, the past few months have been a balancing act. But this new moon in Virgo on August 30, 2019 at 3:36 am PT is your best chance to reclaim power, and applying that power to new plans. Simply put, this new moon is all about the details.

Virgo is ruled by Mercury, which is the planet most responsible for how we communicate. Mercury (which is now direct again after a recent retrograde) in Virgo during a Virgo new moon is a great time to communicate your needs!

What’s more, Venus, the planet of love, is also in Virgo here. So this is the time to make sense of any relationships that have been feeling less than satisfying lately.

Virgo is a sign that is notorious for being organized, so lean into it! What steps do you need to take to reach your next goal? Take advantage of the grounded energy this earth sign provides to focus in on not just doing the work, but setting up the routines and patterns you’ll need to support you on the path to success. That means with your health, relationships, and all feel-good matters!

With the sun, Mars, Venus, and Mercury all in Virgo during this moon, things are primed to get done. Make the most out of this meticulous vibe and make some lists! Having a plan is the first step to success, and astrologically things will be very clear for you to see several steps ahead.

Embrace the straightforward, go-getter energy of this moon with a ritual that helps you communicate exactly what you want to the universe. After doing some journaling (never too many lists during Virgo season!), you should be able to drill down a few main goals or desires you’d like to manifest or focus on. Once you’ve got that down, creating a sigil is what you need.

Sigil magic is used to create a powerful symbol that can hold and imbue your desires with power and potential. With communicative Mercury in Virgo, this is a good time to utilize this practice.

Ingredients:

Instructions:

To start, cleanse your space with sage or Palo Santo and light a white candle so your intentions are focused and clear.

Write a sentence of intention on a piece of paper. It’s important to write in the present tense (for example, “I have a fulfilling job” rather than “I would like a fulfilling job”.) You can write in black ink, or a color that represents your goal (red for love, green for money, etc).

Next, write the sentence again, but without any vowels.

Write the sentence for a third time, removing any consonants that appear more than once.

Finally, take the remaining letters and arrange them to form a symbol. You can rearrange the letters how you see fit—take some time to play and find something that resonates with you.

This is your sigil for the next moon cycle. You can draw it on the cover of a notebook; you can write it on a post-it note on your desk. Or you can even draw it on biodegradable paper and plant it. (Since the new moon is a time for planting intentions, and Virgo is an earth sign, it would also be effective to plant some herbs tonight: Mint, basil, rosemary, and lavender are all low maintenance and have magical properties that can help you all season long. This way, your goals will get a boost whenever you use the herbs for magic—or dinner!)

However you draw it, wherever you place it, keep it in sight all month long.

Affirmation for the new moon in Virgo:

I am supported by the earth in my desires. I stand strong like a well rooted tree, capable of supporting myself and growing my dreams. I am unwavering in my power.
