Take it from a card-carrying Virgo: This is an auspicious time. Is it any surprise that back to school kicks off in Virgo season? Those of us who are familiar with Virgo’s get-it-done energy know that nothing could make more sense. After all, Virgo season is a time for self improvement, self-awareness, and getting your sh*t together. No matter how productive your year has been so far, September presents us with the perfect opportunity to recalibrate and seriously step up our game. Got unfinished projects? Now is the time to make a plan and finish the year on a high.
5 Must-Do Moves to Energize Your Life This Virgo Season:
1. Get rid of your old clutter.
Nothing drives a Virgo crazy like a big old collection of crap, so make like one of us and go through your home with a big garbage bag. We live by William Morris’ proclamation: “Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful.” So, keep this in mind as you liberate yourself of uncomfortable pairs of shoes, broken necklaces, and hideous old coffee mugs your ex left behind!
2. Priortize your goals and create a plan.
What are the top three things you’d like to have completed by the end of the year? Do you want to finish your first draft, launch your business, buy a home? Select your three most inspiring and exciting goals, and then work backwards. What will you need to do in order to cross them off the list entirely? Write down each micromovement, set yourself some deadlines, and make it happen! If you do, you’ll look back on 2017 as a year that really meant something. If not, it’s just another year, no different from the rest.
3. Step away from relationships that don’t serve you.
When you’re truly devoted to your work, it becomes clear that positioning yourself in the center of a maelstrom of drama is a huge time-suck. If you really want to have an impact and contribute something meaningful to the world, you simply have to cut off those people who create unrest in your world. Stop replying to those text messages, don’t initiate coffee dates, and unfollow them on social media. Life is too short for bullsh*t! Instead of surrounding yourself with a fleet of drama queens, focus on a few great people who support you and want you to be your best.
4. Back off from your social calendar!
Virgo energy can sometimes remind me of The Hermit card in the tarot: It’s about going inside yourself so you can focus and create things of substance. It’s almost impossible to work on your masterpiece when you’re meeting friends every night and prowling around town like a wild animal. Making something meaningful requires sacrifice, and it also requires introspection and time alone. Don’t worry: There are plenty of holiday parties just around the corner! Get your work in now and you can celebrate it all later.
5. Create routines and rituals that support you.
We’ve all had a grand old summer, living it up and letting it all hang out. But now it’s time to get back to the grind, and in order to do it properly, you need systems, routines, and rituals that will facilitate the process. Do you need a new workout regimen? You might try my Bad Witch Workout, or find a workout that matches your sign. Do you need a diet do-over? Watch What The Health! Do you need an offline organizational system? Filofax is my favorite! Ask yourself, What do I need to do, eat, and plan in order to be my optimal self? And then go out there and do it.
This Virgo believes in you!
