Summer is here! Let’s dive into some fun and refreshing summer cocktails for each zodiac sign.

ARIES: Garibaldi

The Garibaldi is simple, bold and strong, just like Aries. With the bitter citrus elements of fresh squeezed orange juice combined with Campari, this drink is a bright explosion of flavors. The beauty of this cocktail lies in both the simplicity and flexibility – this drink is only two ingredients, so shifting ratios to your personal taste is a breeze. The Garibaldi’s blunt punch of flavor is perfectly Aries.  For a non-alcoholic option, substitute the Campari for a non-alcoholic dupe or add orange bitters to the orange juice instead. And if you’re an Aries who doesn’t like to drink slowly, a shot of Malort will take care of you.

TAURUS: Clover Leaf

Berries, gin and a foamy top? Say no more! The Clover Leaf is sweet, strong, and feels like walking through a spring garden at sunset. Taurus loves the finer things in life and the Clover Leaf is a cocktail that moves well through the garden party. The combination of Chambord, high quality gin, lemon juice & egg whites create a drink that tastes like a berry cream soda. Taurus is the sign of the lushness of spring and this drink holds the complexity of spring in a coupe glass. The Clover Leaf is easily turned into a mocktail – combine club soda, honey, lemon juice, fresh berries and a splash of heavy cream for a refreshing non boozy option.

Gemini: Dirty Coconut Coke, Vodka Club

A Vodka Club might seem like the most basic choice for Gemini. Our clever Gemini’s are adaptable, flexible, creative and curious, so reimagining the Vodka Club into something personally delicious is a fun exercise! Vodka comes in a cornucopia of different flavors and the addition of flavored simple syrups absolutely take a basic Vodka Club to a different level. Lemon Vodka plus basil syrup, cucumber vodka plus dill syrup, vanilla vodka with grenadine – there are almost endless combinations, which pleases the Mercurial mind. For our Gemini’s who like a sweeter drink, we offer a Dirty Coconut Coke. This is a variation of a rum and coke with the delightful addition of coconut cream to swirl throughout. The Dirty Coconut Coke is easily turned into a mocktail as well – just don’t add rum!

Cancer: Pimm’s Cup

A Pimm’s Cup is a classic drink that is cool and refreshing, a drink that feels comfortably familiar just like Cancer. This drink is a tradition in Britain and the official drink of several summer events, hearkening to Cancer’s deep memory. The Pimm’s Cup is also connected to New Orleans because what’s better than a ginger ale, Pimm’s liquor and cucumber refreshment to cut through the southern heat? For a similar taste and fully southern mocktail vibe, an Arnold Palmer (a non alcoholic drink that is equal ratios of lemonade and sweet iced tea) with a garnish of cucumber or even a splash of ginger ale would cool any hot head.

Leo: Margarita

Imagine this – it’s a perfectly warm, sunny afternoon, the breeze is just right on the patio of your favorite Mexican restaurant, you’re sitting with your favorite people and the server just brought over a pitcher of excellent margaritas. It doesn’t get more summery than that! Leo is the sign that is the heart of summertime and margaritas are the epitome of tasting sunshine. There are so many different variations to this lauded drink – experiment the same way you play with your personal style and see what fits you! There are many mocktails that are margarita inspired – a simple option is limeade served in glass with a salt rim.

Virgo: Aperol Spritz

Aperol is a fascinating liquor from Italy whose name literally means “aperitif”. And what’s more Virgo than a drink designed to stimulate healthy digestion before a meal? The Aperol Spritz combines the aforementioned aperitif with prosecco, club soda and ice. The low alcohol content makes this the ideal drink for pragmatic Virgo – just boozy enough to relax, but not so strong that Virgo gets messy. There’s not really a mocktail version of an Aperol Spritz, unfortunately. Like Aries’ Garibaldi, substituting Aperol and prosecco for orange bitters, an orange juice and club soda fills in the gap.

Libra: Aviation

An Aviation is a classy, lavender colored gin cocktail from the early 20th century that kind of fell off the map for over 50 years. A key ingredient to this drink is creme de violette – a lovely lavender hued floral liquor that has a very distinctive taste. Combined with herbal gin, bright lemon juice and bittersweet cherry, the Aviation is a delightful sophisticated drink that is totally Instagram worthy. Libra is connected to Venus, a lover of elegant fashion, and the Aviation is the perfect cocktail accessory that flirts with nostalgia and something new. Thanks to the surge in sober curious and alcohol sober folks in our world, there are pre-made mocktail Aviation options available. A homemade option could be a simple floral soda – combine club soda, lemon, maraschino cherry, lavender and rose syrup into a refreshing delight!

Scorpio: Negroni

Dark red and polarizing, two Scorpio keywords, the Negroni is another classic Italian aperitif that features Campari, gin and soda water. This complexly flavored cocktail is much like Scorpio – you love it or hate it. For Negroni lovers, this cocktail has no comparison due to the use of Campari. The use of bitter flavored alcohol to stimulate digestion echoes Scorpio’s deep need to process and sit with experiences. This is a sipping drink, for unwinding and relaxing into the night. Negronis can be a challenge to make non alcoholic – work with a reddish or pink ice tea like hibiscus combined with grapefruit and black peppercorns to simulate the complex aromas.

Sagittarius: Bloody Mary

Rich, savory and full of folkloric hangover cures, the Bloody Mary is an endlessly customizable classic cocktail with a mythology all its own. Much like Sagittarius, the Bloody Mary gives you fuel to continue to party or settle your stomach so you can read that new book you just picked up. Almost like a meal on the go, Bloody Mary’s can be topped with any sort of yummy savory treat – popular garnishes include bacon, olives, cherry tomatoes and celery. This speaks to Sagittarius’s wandering nature; these fire signs are a little too busy having adventures to cook a complex meal. A hearty drink that comes with a snack at the airport bar is totally Sagittarius’ vibe. Don’t worry – the Virgin Mary is here for our mocktail option and is just as delicious as the boozy classic.

Capricorn: Mint Julep

Elegant and strong, Mint Juleps are a staple in southern culture in the United States. This fresh and cooling drink has an air of distinction about it, much like Capricorn. Often served in frosty silver cups or beautiful glassware, mint juleps bring sophistication to any occasion. This classic is simple, so high quality ingredients are a must for the discerning Capricorn. Muddled fresh mint combined with good bourbon, sugar and ice, mint juleps are efficiently delicious, which our Capricorns deeply appreciate. Drinking a well crafted Mint Julep connects to Capricorn’s love of tradition, history and, perhaps most importantly, high standards.  Considering that bourbon is the star of this drink, the non alcoholic varieties rely heavily on bright green creme de menthe syrup with bubbly mineral water and lemon juice.

Aquarius: The Dirtiest Martini

Our Aquarius drink is deeply inspired by the air sign’s connection to Saturn. Overwhelmingly simple, the Dirtiest Martini combines high quality vodka or gin with briny olives, stinky cheese and pickly onion. These ingredients are directly connected to Saturn because Saturn likes things that are, for lack of a better word, a little gross and a little sour. Aquarius likes to be known as singularly themselves, and the Dirtiest Martini you can imagine is as variable as the stars in the sky. Each variation for each Aquarius will have their own quirks and preferences, which they will defend as the best possible version. There’s not a mocktail version of the Dirtiest Martini – your best bet is to snack on savory salty olives and pickled veggies with a high quality mineral water.

Pisces: Blue Mermaid, French 75

Blue Mermaid cocktails are made with coconut rum, pineapple juice and Blue Curacao liquor to give that cerulean under the sea hue. Sweet and easy, just like Pisces, Blue Mermaid cocktails can be enhanced with sparkling sodas, fruity tropical juices and even edible glitter to have a more magical experience. If Blue Mermaid drinks are too sweet for your Piscean palette, the classic French 75 has an effervescent and dreamy quality that help Pisces connect to their reputation as the intuitives of the zodiac. Made with gin, lemon, simple syrup and Champagne, the French 75 tickles the nose with sparkling bubbles and its easy bright taste. For a non alcoholic option, sparkling lemonade (with a dash of edible glitter for magic!) serves well.
