How to Use Capricorn Season to Succeed Against all Odds
During the season of winding down of one year and beginning of the other, festive holiday fun quickly shifts to serious work ethic. From the middle of December to the middle of January, we bond with our nearest and dearest, then feel the need to zero in on big picture goals for the year. Both vibes are no doubt influenced by Capricorn season. From December 21 to January 20, the sun transits through the pragmatic cardinal earth sign ruled by taskmaster Saturn.
Those born under the driven sign may not be the most grandiose in their expression of love but do have deep respect for elders and the roots and ties that bind their family trees. So, it makes sense that holidays filled with family time and rich traditions— like Christmas, sometimes Hanukkah, as well as Kwanzaa—occur during Cap season.
Capricorn is also the ruler of the tenth house, associated with career, reputation, responsibility, social standing, public persona, authority figures, and the desire to feel accomplished. So, it certainly stands to reason that Cap season stirs us work harder and smarter to level up and make our most ambitions dreams a reality. You can use the grounded, realistic, stalwart spirit of this time of year to create major gains in your career, love life, and wellness plans.
Here, what each sign can do to succeed against all odds, in the spirit of Cap season. (Be sure to read your rising sign, too!)
Aries (March 21–April 19)
With your eye perpetually towards scoring a win, Capricorn season is your jam, as the sun moves through your tenth house of career. Make a play for a promotion, raise, or simply more responsibility that will flesh out your resume now. Though you like to strike out on your own and even argue a bit to succeed, you’ll do well to adopt a calculated, calmer approach in which you really work with higher-ups than against them.
Taurus (April 20-May 20)
While you might be perfectly content curling up on the couch with a cup of hot cocoa and a schedule filled with nothing but binge-watching, the sun’s move through your ninth house of adventure and higher education is going to spur you to get out of that comfort zone you love so dearly. That could simply mean taking an online class to hone your skill set or booking a long-distance trip for the spring. Either way, doing what you can to gain a new perspective brings you closer to a sense of accomplishment.
Gemini (May 21-June 20)
Though keeping relationships light and airy is your forte, the sun’s trip through your eighth house of emotional and sexual intimacy has you craving a more serious commitment with your current lover or, if you’re single, sending the signal that you want to forge a deeper connection. Meditate on how locking down solid emotional fulfillment may actually fuel your plans to hit personal goals, and you’ll be on fire.
Cancer (June 21-July 22)
Anyone close to you knows that when you’re in a funk, you need to crawl into your shell and indulge in major solo time. But during Cap season, the sun hangs in your seventh house of partnership, so you’ll do best to work with a partner, a friend, or a colleague to reach your goals. You could find that simply teaming up with a coworker leads you to recognition on the job, or prioritizing one-on-one time with your sweetheart has you feeling more grounded—and ready to take on the world.
Leo (July 23-August 22)
Once the indulgent, buoyant holiday season shifts to back-to-work mode, you may be feeling a bit dull, but you can channel the power of the sun’s transit through your sixth house of health and routine to set realistic but bold mind-body goals that fit into and support your daily life. Focus on having fun and doing whatever you feel best boosts endorphins, and you’ll feel unstoppable.
Virgo (August 23-September 22)
The holiday season may wind down after the New Year, but with the sun in your fifth house of romance, creativity, and fun, the party will still be going for you. Do what you can to avoid getting too hung up on the details, and focus more on what lights you up inside. It may sound counterintuitive, but being diligent about making room for effervescent-feeling fun helps you attract the right artistic projects and magical, light-hearted relationship opportunities, so gratification on both fronts will be yours.
Libra (September 23-October 22)
Relationships are of utmost importance to you in general, so you feel quite at peace with the sun’s trip through your fourth house of home life. But because you’re wired to please, host, and create beautiful, harmonious moments for your loved ones, this extra strong burst of family-oriented energy could have you feeling a bit pressured and falling short when it comes to self-care and self-love. If you can strike that balance, you’ll feel centered and ready to take on anything you set your mind to.
Scorpio (October 23-November 21)
Though your instinct is often to play your cards close to the vest when you go after your most ambitious goals, you’ll do well to schedule meetings with certain colleagues, talk to trusted experts, and brainstorm with colleagues or friends. That’s because the sun’s trip through your third house of communication supports your ability to connect with others and share big picture ideas. The more you can do this with others, the closer you’ll be to making dreams a reality.
Sagittarius (November 22-December 21)
The joyful, free spirited fun of your season might be over, but the sun’s transit through your second house of income can mean major rewards if you buckle down a bit. You have no problem and envisioning big picture ideas and aiming high, but your follow-through could be a bit more on-point at times. Cap season’s nose-to-the-grindstone energy gives you a nudge to make a realistic, step-by-step plan for boosting cash flow. Go for it, and watch the dollars roll in.
Capricorn (December 22-January 19)
With the sun moving through your sign and your first house of self, you are completely fired up. While other signs might be less energized by the idea of putting in the work to get what they want, you’re downright turned on by it, so it’s your moment! Just do your best not to be so ridiculously hard on yourself, as is your M.O. Injecting your striving nature with a bit of self-compassion allows you to succeed big now—in a healthy way!
Aquarius (January 20-February 18)
Focusing on facts, logic, and what you can see right in front of your face is your approach to getting ahead, but while the sun moves through your twelfth house of spirituality, you’ll do well to look at the forces and energy that lies underneath all of that. Even meditating for a few minutes a day, going to yoga, doing some pranayama breathwork, etc. could give you a sense of calm that makes it even easier to zero in on what you desire, as well as a game plan for making it yours. Then you can get after it like the forward-thinking smartypants you are!
Pisces (February 19-March 20)
As the empath of the zodiac, picking up on and maybe even absorbing others’ energy is pretty much your 24/7 pastime. But while the sun is in your eleventh house of networking and friendship, you’ll do well to focus on staying centered in your own emotions while working as part of a team. Sure, you can offer advice and even be a shoulder for a buddy to cry on, but focus on your own big picture aims and strategy keeps you on your unique path—toward accomplishment!
