The Rat is a very respected animal in Chinese astrology, so if you have a child born during the Year of the Rat, you can be proud that your little bundle of joy is one of the most dignified signs in the calendar.

As a baby, the Rat is often restless and rarely sleeps through the night, and Rat's need for attention will leave you with little free time. As Rats grow into toddlers, however, they become a bit more independent and are quick to learn, especially if there is a sweet treat in store for them as a reward.
