Lately the world of celebrities has been rocked by a string of shocking infidelities. But the most surprising element of many of them is that the men involved have drop-dead gorgeous partners yet cheated on them with women who are distinctly questionable. We take a look at the dynamics involved and answer the question: what were they thinking?

Jesse James
Biker Jesse is rumoured to be a descendant of the outlaw Jesse James, though it has never been confirmed. He is also an entrepreneur and CEO of West Coast Choppers. His natal Sun is conjunct Saturn in Aries along with Venus. This Venus position suggests that for him love is all in the thrill of the chase. Venus in Aries enjoys the challenge of getting someone to fall for them mind, body, and soul. If there is even a hint of rejection they will be in there like a shot, ready to show that they are the ultimate prize to be won. Of course once the person in question falls for them hook, line, and sinker, they lose interest. Jesse also has Mars in Sagittarius which is not known for its love of commitment. These people love to spread their favors far and wide. Sadly, his marriage to Hollywood sweetheart and 2010 Academy Award winning best actress Sandra Bullock is on dodgy ground since tattoo model and stripper Michelle McGee claimed she had a 10-month affair with him while Sandra was filming the aptly titled, The Blind Side. His Sun/Saturn conjunction suggests he has something to prove. Right now it certainly looks like it!

Tiger Woods
How could Tiger cheat on Elin? She is beautiful, caring, classy and a wonderful mother to his two children. Tiger is not all what he seems. He chart reveals a squeaky clean image, which had everyone fooled. The Virgo Ascendant and Capricorn Sun give the appearance of authority and integrity. However, it all begins to fall apart once we get a closer look at his Mystic Rectangle. He has Mars in Gemini in opposition to Neptune in Sagittarius. This is aspected by Pluto in Libra in opposition to Jupiter in Aries. This aspect pattern usually has great potential, only in this instance it was for being a serial love rat. He has a powerful sex drive, which unfortunately turned into an addiction. He is now receiving treatment for this and hopes that he can somehow make it up to Elin and all the people he has hurt. In early June 2010, both Jupiter and Uranus will be conjunct in Aries in the relationship zone of his chart. This explosive transit may coincide with a test - one in which he will find out whether he can live up to his promise or not. Let's hope that he can.

Jude Law
Lothario Jude Law is another one with a reputation. He supposedly cheated on his fiancé Sienna Miller in 2005 with the nanny of his children from his former marriage to Sadie Frost. Daisy Wright, as she was called, revealed that she had a month-long affair with him and that he was absolutely rampant in bed. A look at Jude's chart shows a very interesting setup. He has a strong Sagittarian influence with Neptune, Venus, and Mercury all in the same sign. Neptune conjuncts Venus which opposes Saturn in Gemini. This suggests that he is a fantasist. He envisages being swept up in a relationship that will help him escape from the harsh realities of life. Unfortunately, the relationships themselves are destined to bring him down to earth with a bump. At some level he feels unloved and unlovable, and may never be able to find a love big enough or deep enough to fill the yawning gap in his soul. Hence his endless search. With his Moon conjunct Uranus in Libra he can also be very fickle, especially when it comes to long-standing relationships.

Hugh Grant
Poor old Hugh! He seemed so gentlemanly British. Yet, in July 1995 he was caught with his pants down in the back of his car with hooker Divine Brown, whom he encountered on Sunset Boulevard. The LA Vice Squad reported that he was deeply embarrassed but very nice about the whole thing. Friends say they don't know what got into him, and that it was quite out of character. He may look like a bumbling sweetie, but deep down he loves to be naughty. This is compounded by having Pluto trine Saturn in Capricorn and the Moon in Taurus. He has a penchant for exploring the dark side of life. He probably has a very black sense of humor, too. At the time of his arrest he had Jupiter in Sagittarius square his natal Pluto. He was looking for the ultimate thrill. Too bad that doing so almost ruined his image of suave sophistication, and cost him his leading lady.
