Mary Devlin has long been fascinated with the stars. In the mid-1970s, she studied astrology at the Astrologer’s Association in Las Vegas, Nev., where she was certified as a professional member of the American Federation of Astrologers.
In 1976 she became the assistant to author/astrologer Marcia Moore. It was during her employment with Ms. Moore that she wrote her first book,
I Am Mary Shelley, and did the research for
Astrology and Past Lives. She went on to publish
Astrology and Relationships and The Psychology of Spirit. Her next astrology book will involve astrological symbols in dreams.
She discovers fascinating and unique insights. When asked about the differences between astrology and astronomy, she says that there are parallels between the physical attributes of the planets and their astrological effects. For example: in astrology, Saturn is the great inhibitor.
"Take a good long look at Saturn," she says. "It’s surrounded by rings – whose gravity inhibits the planet’s energies."
Ms. Devlin has three children and two grandsons. Presently, she lives in Los Angeles with her son Thomas and two cats, Draupadi and Erin.
