4 Life-Changing Resolutions

4 Life-Changing Resolutions Most of us make very self-focused resolutions for each New Year. Things like: stop chewing your fingernails. Take better care of your dental health. Give up coffee. But how many do we stick to, and what good is a resolution if it might only benefit one person? This year, why not make a New Year's resolution focused on a humanitarian goal? Here are some suggestions that each element can master.

Fire Signs (Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius)
Attention, Fire Signs: opportunities for you to help others have never been brighter or more possible than the turn of a New Year! Consider doing something that involves helping young people. For example, you might volunteer with a local Girl Scouts troop, or Boys and Girls Club. You could also share your skills by mentoring a high school student. Do you love to read? Help a child develop his or her love of literature through tutoring services.

Earth Signs (Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn)
As Earth Signs, you can literally get in touch with your element! Go out into the great outdoors by checking with your local Parks and Recreation Department about volunteering to coach or referee a young people's sports league or help wildlife. Check out community clean-up days on local beaches or in parks. Look for a way to be truly green by getting involved with a nonprofit botanical garden or community garden. Your Earth needs your volunteering spirit!

Air Signs (Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius)
Air Signs will feel as if they could float with the good vibes they'll receive from volunteering with an arts or cultural cause! For you, the key is to use your own hobbies as the launching pad for your great charitable project. For example, if you love art, try volunteering as a docent at an art museum. Adored by your dog or purred at by your cat? Volunteer to help at your local animal shelter, or help a neighbor who needs someone to pet-sit or walk their dog.

Water Signs (Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces)
Take a dive into the deep end with the numerous ideal volunteer opportunities for water elements. First, don't judge a book by its cover. A wide range of volunteer opportunities might await you at your library! From volunteering to lead a story time for children to helping with a book sale to tutoring seniors on computers, a library can hold a wealth of options for would-be volunteers.
